Hwagak, a uniquely Korean royal craft
A World of Beauty Etched on Ox Horn
A Limited-Edition Imperial Youth State Honors Speciality Set
The Pinnacle of Korean Royal Craftsmanship: Hwagak
The 3th edition of Our Imperial Youth State Honors Speciality Set

“Once revered as the pinnacle of royal artistry, Hwagak, crafted out of painted panels of flattened ox horn, was an art form exclusive to Korea’s royal court and a select few nobles. Throughout history, Hwagak has remained an art form only found in Korea.”
Korean Artisan Collaboration
Imperial Youth State Honors Speciality Set of 2018

As the world’s only Hwagak master, Lee Jae-man was mentored by Joseon Dynasty’s legendary Hwagak craftsman, Eum Il Cheon. Recognized as the youngest Intangible Cultural Heritage master, he has crafted pieces of Korean royal artwork for foreign dignitaries on state visits. For the 2019 Imperial Youth State Honors Speciality Set, he transformed the beauty of Hwagak into a royal mirror stand fit for a queen. Only three of them exist in the entire world.
